Exploring Lake Chelan’s Newest Tasting Room – Sigillo Cellars

You should have seen me do a double-take yesterday as I was driving into town and saw a new tasting room I hadn’t been aware of!

Sigillo Cellars, which also has a tasting room in Snoqualmie, Washington, opened up in the historic Lakeside school building this week.

I parked quickly and headed inside, eager to be among the first visitors to check out this new wine tasting room.

I’ve been so busy writing about wine in Woodinville on my other wine blog, I’ve never made it to their Snoqualmie tasting room. I was glad for the opportunity to find out more about Sigillo Cellars right here in Chelan.

I love that they’ve left some of the vintage school desks as a nod to the building’s history.

Inside I found a spacious, beautifully lit wine tasting room with friendly employees.

They taught me how to pronounce Sigillo (Sig-ih-low) and that it means Seal in Italian – the Seal family owns the winery.

In case there isn’t room on the patio outside, you can get cozy in one of these comfy leather chairs.

The tasting room features a large and beautiful patio out front. I wasn’t able to get photos of it because so many people were sitting out there during my visit – I figured they wouldn’t appreciate me taking pics of them!

Next time I come back you’ll see me tasting wine or the patio or perched on one of these stools inside!

Vintage photos and a few retro items add a nice touch to the tasting room.

I was almost late for meeting my cousins in town, so I didn’t have time to do a tasting. I perused the tasting menu above but was told it’s not very accurate – it was taken from the Snoqualmie tasting room. I purchased wine to take with me though, especially excited for the Sparkling Viognier!

I also bought a Roussanne, delighted to taste another one after trying a few Woodinville versions lately. I knew I’d be cracking both bottles open later that night after dinner – my cousins enjoy wine as much as I do!

There are several white wines on the menu – the 2018 Sauvignon Blanc and the 2018 Sno Valley were already sold out.

As for the reds, they offer a “Geno’s Rosé,” a Grenache, a GSM, a Syrah, a Tempranillo, a Merlot, a Cab Sauv, a 100% Petit Verdot (yay!) and a couple of red blends.
