A Fabulous Weekend Renting a Beautiful House at the Lookout in Chelan

Jen and I have been staying home in our houses, like most everyone else, for months. We’ve been keeping cozy in our homes and backyards, other than making a few trips to the grocery store, our pets’ veterinarians, or going to our volunteer work with food pantries and farm food rescue organizations.

Now that restrictions have been easing up, we were itching to get out of town on a little wine getaway. We have been really carefully socially isolating, so decided it was safe to include each other in our bubbles and share a rental house in Lake Chelan. We took separate cars so as not to share indoor air, but removed our masks around the rental house.

We rented Egg N Us (via VRBO) at The Lookout in Lake Chelan for a quick midweek getaway. My boyfriend stayed home with the dogs, since this rental house is pet friendly but with a 50 pound weight limit per dog (My retrievers weigh quite a bit more than that, sadly!)

Since we weren’t sure which tasting rooms would be open yet when we arrived, we packed along some Chelan wine and these sparkling wines from Treveri Cellars (we might have been fighting over who got to open the pink sparkly bottle first, in this photo!)

The Egg ‘N Us house had four bedrooms, so Jen and I and her girls each had our own little cozy sanctuary. We read books, relaxed in the hot tub, cooked a bit, watched The Outer Banks on Netflix (the girls got us hooked on this show!) and did some writing on our blogs. We drank wine, had bubbles with brunch every morning, and Jen made wine spritzers one warm afternoon using our grapefruit sparkling water. (The girls enjoyed strawberry lemonade from Marcella’s, sodas, coffee and tea!)

Wanting to minimize our grocery store trips, we packed groceries from home, and ordered takeout food from Marcella’s and from Blueberry Hills a couple of times during our stay.

We ate our meals outside on the deck overlooking the lake. In this pic, we are sharing a bottle of Tildio Winery’s excellent white wine.

We enjoyed this beautiful mountain and vineyard view out one side of the deck, and a water view from the other side.

We drank Siren Song wine by the fire pit in the early evening after arriving and unpacking.

Every evening, we walked down to the Barn Owl Lookout spot.

There was a little area where we could sit on Adirondack chairs enjoying the view. (We never saw any owls, though, sadly).

We also walked down to The Lookout’s private waterfront area every evening (complete with a a nice steep walk back up the hill, which made us feel like we’d earned our nightly wine!)

We had each brought a bottle of Siren Song white wine with us, making sure we had delicious wine to drink on warm evenings. We opened both bottles and shared pours so we could each taste both wines.

What a wonderful girls week away we spent at The Lookout at Lake Chelan. We definitely recommend renting the clean, spacious and beautifully appointed Egg N Us house (via VRBO). Now that Chelan’s wineries, tasting rooms and restaurants are re-opening, we’re headed back very soon.
